The inertial confinement fusion (ICF) can be taken as a new resource which hasattracted more and more attention on it now. The deuterium polymer can be formed intodeuterium-tritium fuel containers with the best prospects which required by ICF experiment. However, the type restriction of the deuterium polymer cannot satisfy the conditions ofthermal resistant property, processing property and higher deuterium (tritium)/carbon(hydrogen) ratio, so it is extremely necessary and meaningful to make a kind of deuteriumpolymer to meet the requirements of ICF.In this paper, we used Fourier infrared instrument and nuclear magnetic resonance topresent structure characteristics of PVCH, D-PVCH that formed by catalytic reaction, andthen confirmed hydrogenation and deuteration rates;used Differential scanning calorimetryand Thermal gravimetric analysis to present thermal properties of products. We finally gotthe best reaction conditions and then made DPVCH by catalytic deuterated DPS. The filmmade by casting and the low density foams required by the ICF experiment can be availablethrough the universal mechanical testing machine analysis for the films and foammechanical properties. The results are as follow:(1)the best optimized condition for PS catalytic hydrogenation reaction are asbelow:reaction pressure is1.5Mpa;temperature is140℃;7times catalyst dosage comparedwith polystyrene; the ratio of polystyrene value to solution volume should be1g/100ml;hydrogenation ratio should be100%;the glass transition temperature of the product PVCHshould be146℃;5%zero gravity temperature should be around400℃with better solubility.(2)D-PVCH with100%conversion ratio made under the same conditions for catalytichydrogenation of polystyrene and the glass transition temperature should be125℃.5%zerogravity temperature should be around400℃and the deuteration ratio should be41.5%with excellent solubility.(3) The highest deuterated ratio of DPVCH through DPS catalytic deuteration should be84%.(4) The Ideal low density foam and fitting formula between the theoretical density andreal density presented by one-way cooling of mixed solution for PVCH at speed100K/min.The roughness of the transparent films made by single solution should be14.07nm and thethickness should be0.02μm.(5) Relation graph of quality concentration and thickness of films which are made fromD-PVCH had been formed and showed that the increase of film thickness with the massconcentration is a linear relationship when concentration is below0.05g/ml. The elastic modulus of foam made by mixed solution D-PVCH is between0.05g/cm-3-0.07g/cm-3andthe quality concentration grew very fast which has a maximum value.
