The traditional present-used barrier explosion facilities, such as the water tent,the rock powder tent etc, can not get the expected barrier explosion effect. In order tostudy the new effective barrier explosion device, it is important to study the barrierexplosion materials which fit the use of the coal mine. In recent years, because of porousmaterials have the better inhibitory action to flame and pressure wave in explosion toreceive attention,already obtained the widespread application in the military and thecivil project protection domain. This paper made the experiment and theory study ofthe pipe explosion suppression effects of the different parameters metal wire mesh,the foam ceramics and their combination.Firstly, using the square explosion experimental pipe of the section for30cm×30cm and with our designed data acquisition, we made the experimentalstudies of the explosion suppression effects of the different parameters metal wiremesh and foam ceramic materials. Secondly, the experimental results showed that themetal wire mesh and the foam ceramic had the ability of the fire prevention and thepressure reduction. The attenuation effect of the explosion overpressure of the foamceramic was better than that of the metal wire mesh. The attenuation effect of theflame temperature of the metal wire mesh was better than that of the foam ceramic.The parameters of the mesh number and the layer number of the metal wire mesh hada great influence on the explosion suppression effect. The parameters of the hole sizeand the thickness of the foam ceramic had a great influence on the explosionsuppression effect, but the materialof the foam ceramic had a little influence on theexplosion suppression. The anti-blast damage performace of the wire mesh was goodbut the sintering resistance performance was bad and it was easy to be deformed. Theanti-blast damage performance of the foam ceramic was bad but the sinteringresistance performance was good and it had the good absorbing soundability.Thirdly,by the explosion suppression mechanism and the experimental results,we analyzed the material’s parameters’influence on the explosion suppression effectand summarized the advantages and disadvantages of the metal wire mesh and thefoam ceramic for suppressing the pipe gas explosion. Finally,we provided thecombination use of the the metal wire mesh and the foam ceramic and made theexperiments. The results showed that the some parameter combination of the metal wire mesh and the foam ceramic reduced the explosion intensity of the sameconditions without the obstables, and the attnuation effects of the explosionoverpressure and the flame temperature of the combination were better than that ofeach monomer of themselves and the phenomena of the damage of the metal wiremesh and the foam ceramic were avoided. By the rational configuration of the metalwire mesh and the foam ceramic parameter to get the combination, the combinationcould exert the advantages of the monomer materials and avoid the disadvantages.The study result will provide the theoretical and experimental basis for thematerial choice of the new effective barrier explosion device, and it also has thetheoretical significance and the practical value for reducing the harm caused by thegas explosion and preventing the expansion of the accidents.
