Glyphosate is one of the most widely used herbicide in the world. PMIDA is the key intermediate for Glyphosate production. This paper focus on the feasibility study for a50,000Mt/year PMIDA plant.First of all, this paper analysis the market situation and existing producers to screen out the HCN route as the best one for PMIDA manufacturing. Then starting with natural gas, this paper design the full manufacturing process, including hydroxyl acetonitrile, ID AN, PMIDA and final product packaging. Major equipments are mentioned and utilities are discussed and designed as well.Environmental protection and safety are the key topics for a product design so that are also discussed in this paper. The resources for the waste liquid, waste gas, waste solid and noise are analysised. Methods and treatments are given accordingly. On the other hand, hazard factor analysis are conducted based on the hardous chemical substance and manufacturing process. Suggestions are made based on the analysis.
