Coal mining drilling rig is the major equipment used in today’s domesticunderground coal seam gas drainage holes. And the two dominant types of thetraditional ones are vertical(mechanical) and horizontal. The governor of the rotarydevice of vertical drilling rig adopt mechanical transmission. So the speed of therotary device is stepped, and it is inconvenient to operate and easy to wear failure.The executive device’s stepless speed regulation of horizontal drilling rig isachieved by using hydraulic drive. In addition, multiple working planes are notavailable for both vertical and horizontal drilling rig when not moving theequipment. Only one working plane is achieved for both.Based on the current properties of each drilling rig, a multi-station tunneldrilling rig is put forward and researched in the paper. Firstly, hydraulic system oftraditional drilling rig is analyzed and summarized. Then a whole structure of themulti-station tunnel drilling rig is introduced. In order to realize the functions ofthe vertical and horizontal dual-use, the structure of the executive devices of thetraditional drilling rig, the chuck and grippers, are improved. And then based on theoperation conditions of multi-station tunnel drilling rig, the hydraulic system isdesigned and some theoretical calculations are made. A simple mathematical modeland AMESim analysis model of both the rotation circuit and the feeding circuit ofthe multi-station drilling rig’s hydraulic system are established. Some researchesare made about the properties of the system through software simulation onAMESim. At last, the experiment of disc spring (key part of chuck) is carried out toverify the clamping reliability of chuck. And the experiment plan for multi-stationtunnel drilling rig could be drew up from the experiment of overall effectiveexperiments of the vertical drilling rig.The multi-station tunnel drilling rig has the characters of vertical andhorizontal drilling rig. By adopting hydraulic drive, it can easily achieve steplessspeed control as the horizontal drilling rig. Being capable of working both invertical and horizontal stations. The functions of drilling in two planes is thusrealized without moving its body.
