The electrostatic precipitator is one of the most widely used dust removal equipment,and it is extremely efficient in dust collection, for it has low resistance, low consumptionand the highest efficiency in processing the problem of the smoke. However, when thedust is in the highest level of purification, it is very easy to have a "reverse corona"phenomenon; Moreover, for the low resistivity of the dust, there can be a "secondary dust"phenomenon. Even though the electrostatic precipitator has been developing so far, thesetwo major technical problems have failed to get a very good solution.This article studies the principle of the water mist formation and the water mistcharged mechanism, to effectively collect the fine particles and to inhibit the secondaryhappening of the dust. Comparing the characteristics of the solid and the hollow jet nozzleatomization, a further step can be made on the study of the two nozzles’ generated sprayand their influence on the V-I characteristics. Finally, take the fly ash as dust source, anddetermine the classification of the efficiency.The results of the study show that, the solid nozzle, when the atomization iscompletely guaranteed, the spread liquid particles are100~120μm of size, while with thehollow nozzle liquid particles are distributed with a size of300~380μm. When droplets’size is100~120μm, the wet electrical precipitator has a very good collection effect onfine grain dust, so that on10μm size fine particles the dust removal efficiency is more than92%. When droplets size is bigger than40μm, the efficiency of the two atomizationnozzles for dust collection is so close that the efficiency of solid atomization nozzle canreach99.6%while the hollow atomization nozzle can reach98.8%. The application of awet electrostatic precipitator, instead of a dry electrostatic precipitator, can increase thedust cleaning efficiency of10%.Through the research on the nozzle atomizing characteristics and on their influenceon the dust removal performance, the two technical problems of the "secondary dust" and"reverse corona", existing in the wet electrostatic precipitator for processing fine particles,can be solved, and the wet electrostatic precipitator application scope can be expanded.
