Cooling water-channel is an important part of injection mold, in a long time, thedesign of cooling water-channel depends on designer’s experience, lacking of theory, itresults in low efficiency and poor quality. If optimization design is introducedin the design,guiding the design of the cooling system scientifically, the efficiency and quality will besignificant impacted, so the optimization design of cooling system have great significance.In the paper, genetic algorithm will use in the design of water-channel layout, firstly,translating water-channel location parameter into a string data structure of chromosomesby binary coding to get the initial population chromosomes, and then calculate thedistance to check whether the chromosome water-channel design meet requirements, withthe right chromosome to copy, crossover and mutation and get a new population, thendetermine and iterate until the search for a suitable location water-channel chromosome.UG/open and associated technology are researched and used in the paper,water-channels are doing interference checking with surfaces and adjusted to theappropriate location automatically; the water-lines are associated with the water-channelsfor the rapid change; holes on the template are associated with water-channel standards byWAVE technology to achieve synchronous change.In the paper, the framework of injection mold cooling system is builded, inaccordance with water-channel layout, channel design, interference checks, endpointdesign, automatic hole table and planned the function module. Based on the studies above,combined with the case of42-inch display injection mold cooling system, the authordeveloped the injection mold cooling system optimization module on UG platform toverify the validity of research work, this function module improves the design efficiencyand quality of water-channel significantly.
