Linear guides is the rolling friction-based line-oriented features, the qualitycharacteristics of high-precision, high-speed, small friction make it has been widely appliedto the CNC center, electrical machinery, robotics and other industries. This paper introducedthe trends and prospects of linear guides, the results showed the necessity and urgency of theawareness and understanding of the linear guides basic theory in the current research. Pepperfocus on analysis and presentation of the friction characteristics of the linear guides.This paper lists and describes the mature rolling friction mechanism of elastic contactcondition, and received the elastic hysteresis mechanism is the main form of the frictionenergy loss. Paper introduced the general formula of a single rolling element model offriction. Extended the formula to the roller linear guides, pepper worked out frictioncharacteristics of roller linear guides under vertical load P, moment load My and moment loadMx respectively, unpreload and preload condition also considered. Friction test rig and testfixture designed in the fourth chapter, the experimental and theoretical results show theorywhich deduce from Hertz contact theory and Palmgren formula works well. The final, frictionprediction software and experimental data processing software developed by the author.Course of the study discussed the frictional characteristics of rolling linear guides indetail, the results provided theoretical support for the selection and precise control ofmovement of the roller linear guide.
