The application and popularization of the grooveless rolling technology is the trendof modern production of wire rod and bar. The key to achieving grooveless rolling is thedesign of rolling process and guides. So far, the design of screw down instruction does nothave a unified standard. So the studying of the workpiece spread is the key to promotingthe technology in the process of grooveless rolling.This paper simulates rolling in different aspect ratio and relative reduction rate infinite element analysis software DEFORM. Using MATLAB Curve Fitting Toolbox tocurve fitting the measured analog data and determine the formula of the grooveless rollingspread and critical reduction.The design of grooveless rolling reduction procedures need to ensure the dimensionalaccuracy of the workpiece in the direction of height and width. By theoretical analysis, thefinal size depends on rolling pass reduction and intermediate passes blank size, so thispaper use genetic algorithm design reduction procedures. The square of deviation in twodirections for the fitness function, within the possible range of design variables andgradually find the reduction, which satisfy the constraint condition and make the fitnessfunction to be smallest. On the basis of this reduction this paper designs the rollingprocess parameters.Designing rollng process parameters, using modeling software Pro/E to create themold geometry model, using finite element analysis software DEFORM to build rollersimulation model, setting reasonable boundary conditions, the paper simulated the wholeprocess of grooveless rolling. Through the analysis of the temperature and the rollingforce, this paper obtains the change rules. Through the analysis of rolling pass size, thispaper preliminary verify the reduction, which designed by genetic algorithm, which usesthe spread formula, is reasonable. There are playing a guiding role in the groovelessrolling and are the base of promoting grooveless rolling technology.
