Syntactic epoxy foams, which based on epoxy resin, filled with hollow ceramicmicrospheres, foaming agents were studied at this paper. The effects of hollow ceramicmicrospheres and bubble fractions on the fracture strength, fracture strain, Young’smodulus and Poisson’s ratio were investigated. The properties under different strain ratesand mechanical behaviors at high strain rates were studied. The fracture strength and fracture strain of epoxy foams were tested at quasi static. The Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio were calculated. Variations of properties werestudied with different hollow ceramic microspheres and bubble fractions, and withdifferent strain rates at quasi static. Testing was performed on mechanical behaviors athigh strain rates (300~2000/s) by Hopkinson tensile bar (SHTB) and Hopkinson pressureba(rSHPB). Variations of fracture strength and fracture strain were studied at high strainrates. The innovation of this paper was to systematically test material properties ofsyntactic epoxy foams under different strain rates, and study on variations of materialproperties with different strain rates at quasi static and high strain rates. The experimental data of this paper was applied in Abaqus emulation system, theemulation precision was increased from60%to83%under the application. The designcycle of frangible cover of missile launch tank was shortened30%, the physicalexperiment was less than50%. To enhance the ability of development, shorten the cycleof R&D and reduce the R&D costs has obvious practical significance.
