With blanking pieces widely used in electron, machinery and daily items, the demand for design and production of blanking die is higher and higher. The traditional manual design and manufacturing can no longer meet the need of production and development. How to improve the quality of the mold design and shorten the design cycle is the current important mission of cutting industry. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out automated and intelligent research based on mold design, in order to solve many current problems such as high cost and low efficiency on mold design.On the analysis of design feature and design process of blanking die, based on Pro/E platform and its re-development tool, combining with C++and Access, this paper developed intelligent die system based on Pro/E. The system mainly contains knowledge database, die size calculation, die mold design, Die parts design and standard mold base library. The database contains material, press machine, design parameters, other data and knowledge base constituted by mold design rules and design experience, which are required in the mold design process.The size calculation effectively integrates commonly-used formulas for mold;The mold design is convenient and fast to achieve the realization of project mold;The Die parts design integrates a large number of various parts required in mold design, and drives the realization of parameterization; The standard mold base library has accumulated a variety of standard mold bases commonly used in blanking die design.The whole system has realized automated and intelligent design on blanking die. And the system design is reliable and convenient which is proved by true cases.The intelligent die system based on Pro/E provides convenient and efficient platform for the design of blanking die. In order to make it gradually closer to perfection and utility, the system has been designed with open interface. Meanwhile the design and implementation of this system is a reference and guidance to the research and development of other die CAD system.
