Parametric design method is one of the most popular application technology of CAD, and it has some characteristics with high efficiency and availability, and it has great practical value in product series design. Compared with the traditional design method, this method can reduce abundant duplication work, and greatly improve the design efficiency, which comply with requirements of modern product design. Rolling shear mechanism is one of the most important composition of shearing cutting machine, it has a lot of components and parts and large quantity of design work, so it is very difficult to realize serialization design with traditional design method. Based on this problem, this paper used Pro/E to do parametric design of rolling shear mechanism under the environment of VC++. The finished content are as follows:(1) Parameterize the module and designed dialog interfaceParts and assembly models are established in Pro/E, then the models are parameterized, by changing model parameters to drive model to regenerate satisfied parts model. In the environment of VC++, menus and menu buttons are added with Pro/TOOLKIT development tools in the toolbar of Pro/E. Then dialog interface was called by menu buttons and some parts were selected in the dialog interface to call parametric design interface. In order to simplify the design process of the menu and solve the problem, this problem is about how to solve the bottleneck of limited ability in parameters expression of Pro/E. Finally the function was realized in parametric design of complicated parts.(2) Automatically create the drawings and to achieve the marking functionBased on setting the drawing environment of Pro/E, engineering drawing is parameterized to obtain satisfactory title bar and detail column of engineering drawing. And automatic generation of engineering drawing is realized with Pro/TOOLKIT program in the environment of VC++. In addition, dimension indications of engineering drawing are developed to realize the search, update of dimension and show of tolerance. Finally engineering drawing generally accorded with national standards.(3) Realize the storage of models and drawingsStorage system is established with database, it is facilitated to save models and engineering drawing after update. The system’s function includes save, update, delete and creating engineering drawing and so on. When models are saved, rename it firstly before saving to avoid confusion of models. Engineering drawings are created from regeneration models in the storage system, this way enhances the efficiency of creating engineering drawing. It realized the parametric design in this paper, and enhanced the design efficiency of designers and avoided abundant duplication of effort in product series design. The results of the study may provide reference, and feasibility is verified in the parametric design of rolling shear mechanism.
