Lots of sulfides, phenols and naphthenic were contained in refinery alkaline residue, which will produce environment pollution if it was charged without any treatment, and it was difficult to treat too. Carbonation method is one of the high effective and low cost refinery alkaline residue treatment methods, in which CO2from factory exhaust can be used.Carbonation method was used to treat the refinery alkaline residue in this work. The factors which affect the treatment performance were studied, they were:carbonization temperature, carbonization time and concentration of carbon dioxide. The carbonization conditions were determined in removal ratio of COD, removal ratio of sulfides and phenols. The results showed when reaction temperature was95℃, reaction time was120minutes, and the concentration of CO2was80%, a relatively higher removal ratio of COD, sulfides and phenols was obtained.Orthogonal test was used to study the carbonization factors and the optimized technology condition of refinery alkaline residue treatment using carbonation method. The results showed that the optimized technology conditions were:reaction temperature was95℃, reaction time was150minutes, and the concentration of CO2was80%. Carbonization temperature was the main factor, followed by carbonization time and concentration of carbon dioxide.Copper oxide was used as a desulphurization agent, the removal ratio of sulfide98%was achieved when the concentration of copper oxide was3g/L, and no stench and sulfide was left, which caused the alkali regeneration and the copper oxide can be reused.Carbonization process Simulation of refinery alkali residue was developed primary using Aspen Plus Software. The carbonization reaction must be simplified because it was too complex. Carbonization process of refinery alkali residue was simulated at different temperature. The simulation results showed: removal ratio of sulfide reached72.39%at97℃; Removal ratio of phenols reached74.32%at93℃. The simulated results have showed a good accordance with the experimental, which laid the foundation for simulation and amplification of refinery alkali residue carbonization process.Biotechnology was considered to treat refinery alkaline residue. Predominant bacteria TK-5was screened and domesticated. When Predominant bacteria TK-5was used to treat carbonization refinery alkaline residue directly, removal ratio of COD reached80%. when pH of carbonization refinery alkaline residue was adjusted to7, removal ratio of COD reached90%. The work laid the foundation for refinery alkaline residue treatment combined with carbonization method and biotechnology.
