ABSTRACT: Torpedo car is a special vehicle used for the iron and steelenterprises to transport hot metal to steelmaking poured can station for pouring hotmetal, which replaces the traditional hot metal car, to complete the processes ofdephosphorization and desulfurization in hot metal transporting, thereby reducingsmelting time and cost of smelting, is a highly efficient, advanced smelting technologyequipment.Torpedo car tilting system uses a new type of chain drive design, with two sets ofthe same gear, make ladle total tilting torque splitted to input to the trunnion.The main contents are as follows:In this paper, the Solidworks software is used for calculating tilting torque oftorpedo car to obtain tilting torque and its curve. It can provide theoretical foundationfor the motor selection and the best trunnion position determination.ANSYS software is used for temperature field and thermal stress finite elementanalysis of torpedo car ladle body and shell; it can provide a theoretical basis for theshell hot strength design.It makes static finite element strength and stiffness checking on the chain wheelshaft and torpedo ladle. The results show that these two components meet the strengthand stiffness requirements.The results can provide reference for torpedo car tilting body using, maintenanceand longevity of the equipment.
