With the world industrial development and substantial increase in demandfor energy, the status of the oil industry in today’s society becomes more andmore important. The oil workers have also continuously improved thetechnology of drilling to develop and utilize the oil resources. As an importantbranch of the drilling technology, drilling fluid technology has also become thefocus of attention, and the upgrade of drilling fluid technology mainly dependson the research and development of drilling fluid additives.Today, the commonly used lubricants of drilling fluids are affected inenvironment, price, the impact of oi1and gas identification conditions. It istherefore urgent to find a new lubricant for drilling fluids to alleviate thesecontradictions.This paper describes the research and development of a new emulsionlubricant. We studied the affections to emulsion lubricant including time,temperature, mix speed and water consumption of emulsification. Theproperties of rheology, lubricity and suppression of drilling fluids wereevaluated simultaneously after the emulsified lubricant was adulterated. Theresults show that the adulteration of drilling fluid with2%(w/v) of thelubricant can significantly improve the lubricating properties and the shaleinhibition of drilling fluid with little influence on other properties.Basic on the laboratory study, the new emulsion lubricant was applied tothree horizontal wells of Daqing Oilfield(nan232-ping255、nan224-ping328 and fang142-ping146) successfully. During the drilling process of differentwells, the timely adulteration of drilling fluid with emulsion lubricant canincrease the lubricity of the drilling fluid to ultimately ensure the smoothprogress of the drilling. Field applications shows that the new lubricant has aoutstanding lubricating effect and good compatibilities with the commonlyused treatment agent of drilling fluids with great shale inhibition and non-toxic,non-fluorescent. The new lubricant was adapted to the drilling of horizontalwells with significant efficiency improvements, low costs, more ability ofsafety insurance and supportive friendly of environment and reservoirs.
