Based on this concept, as well asa large number of literature and picture information, the family tree of traditional Chinesecheongsam is traced. According to its order of evolution, combining the historical environments, its flats in various stages are drawn. Secondly, typical traditional Chinese cheongsams areselected from different museums and private collections. Modern methods of measurement areused in this period to collect their information on pattern. From the perspective of plane-crossstructure and western three-dimensional structure, their collars, sleeves, garment bodies, anddecorative features as well as local details are deeply discussed. Finally, based on the integrationof the two steps above, aesthetic culture of traditional Chinese cheongsam is discussed. Viastating its unique dual structure, the understanding to traditional clothing’s pattern is furtherdeepened.Traditional Chinese cheongsam is not a simple clothing style, but a typical signal ofgarment shape, which has been changing and developing for thousands of years. But during theever changing process, its essence of a cross-cut garment structure never change, considering thecenter line of the body front and back as the center axis, the sleeve-shoulder line as thehorizontal axis.Traditional Chinese cheongsam is a multi-ethnic and multicultural product.
