In this paper, six new coordination polymers have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, which containing3-nitro-phthalic acid (H2L1) and3-nitrobenzoic acid (HL2). In order to explore the influence of the properties of nitrogen-containing ligands on their final structures of coordination complexes, we have selected three kinds of neuter ligands [L=1,4-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butane, L2=1,10-Phenanthroline monohydrate and L3=4’-methyl-1-phenyl-2,2’:6’,2"-terpyridines] for discussion. Also we try to change the different metal salts to the design of synthetic compounds. Six new compounds have been synthesized, namely [Cd(L2)(L1)](1),[Zn(L2)(L1)](2),[Zn(L1)(L3)](3),[Zn(L2)(L3)](4),[Cd (L2)(L2)2](5),[Zn2(L1)2(L2)2(H2O)](6).The crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds1-3show one-dimensional (1D) chain structures, which are extended to the2D supramolecular layers via π-π interactions. Compounds4and5display single molecules of structure, and accumulate with1D chains by π-π packing. In compound6, there are two independent molecules. Each molecule links the Zn atoms to form two independent1D chains. The two chains are extended to2D layers by π-π interactions. Thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) for compounds (1-4,6) are discussed.
