A petrochemical plant in the overhaul of the cracking gas compressor has discovered thatthe high pressure cylinder is in a serious erosion wear, seriously affected the safe operation ofthe ethylene plant, for the purpose to the compressor failure analysis of high pressure cylinder,through research and analysis, identify the reasons for the failure, make the repair plan,develop, puts forward the corresponding preventive measures is of great significance toensure the safety of long running cycle.The author from three aspects to collect relevant data and test. One is to usemacroscopical analysis method, the partition of appearance inspection. Two is the collectionof device operation process data, historical status analysis. Three is the scale sampleinspection, metallographic and microscopic analysis in the laboratoryMacroscopic observation indicated that the samples, the compressor HP cylinder ofimport and export flow channel cavity rusty, channel edge can obviously see uneven, there aremountains shaped erosion morphology consistent with traces of erosion corrosioncharacteristics. Microscopic observation of sample surface, with surface spalling, in the pitwas observed in fish scale pattern rules, with the characteristics of electrochemical corrosion,at the same time on the surface of the sample was observed in the mechanical erosion wear;inspection displays that the material chemical composition and mechanical properties of thesample meet the requirements of the standard; metallographic displays the material of thesample is hot rolling status of low carbon steel, the Ferrite and Pearlite present zonaldistribution, without exception; spectrum analysis displays it has a large number of Selements in the sample surface; fouling sample analysis shows that there have a large numberof S compounds and carbonate in the dirt.Comprehensive analysis shows that, the pyrolysis gas of high pressure cylinder failurebelongs to the erosion and corrosion under the interaction of erosion wear.Suggestions in future operation, First, attention should be paid to compressor injectionsystem management, avoid when water atomization effect is poor, vaporization is not timely,the compressor water content increased, ultimately leading to erosion corrosion phenomenon;this time, suggest that injection of corrosion inhibitor to reduce the corrosion problem causedby water.
