N-butyl acetate is one of the most common organic solvents, which is widely used in lacquers, coating manufactures, pharmacy and other branches. Conventionally, sulfuric acid is often used in the esterification of acetic acid. But many problems exist, such as too many side reactions, serious equipment corrosion and environmental pollution. Compared with traditional process, reactive distillation can simplify the process flow, save equipment investment, reduce operation costs, and improve the product yield and selectivity.Over the course of study, appropriate physical property method was chosen through the analysis of basic physical property, thermodynamic model and residual curve of the n-butyl acetate. There are two kinds of process for reactive distillation of n-butyl acetate synthesis, in which the acetate discharge from the bottom and top seperately. Steady model was built with RadFrac module in Aspen plus. In the given reaction kinetics, the process of catalytic distillation of n-butyl acetate with strong acidic cation exchange resin was comprehensive studied. Factors influencing the reaction system were investigated and optimized in the bottom technology, such as the number of stripping section, feed location, reflux ratio, and other parameters. When the number of rectifying section, reactive section and stripping section is5,20, and10separately, and the acetic acid and n-butanol is feed in the sixth and tenth tray with the molar feed ratio1:1, the optimal result can be gotten.
