Ambient formic acid、acetic acid、ozone、sulfer dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in museums are harmful to cultural relics. For more effective control of the ambient pollution in museums and assessing the effects of the pollutents,it is necessary to develop a monitoring method that is rapid、effective and easy to operate. The research was carried based on previous studies. At first, the linear range and linear relationship, the stability of standard solution, the limits of detection and quantitation, and the recoveries were investigatied.Based on previous studies, the absorbents of the passive sampler for ozone were newly designed and K3PO4was substituted for K2HPO4.The effects of phosphate group on the oxidation reaction was studied by using absorbents with different phosphates and other alkalis. It was investigated that the content of each component in the aborbents had an influence on the sampling efficiency. And the mass content of absorbents for the uptake of ozone、acetic acid and formic acid was finally determined as10%glycerol+0.1%NaNO2+0.24%K3PO4.The effect of TEA on the reaction between ozone and nitrite was studied by using absorbents with different contents of TEA.In addition, the effects of different storage conditions and membrane of different materials were tested. The valid time for storage after the period of passive sampler exposure was investigated in different conditions. Finally the passive sampling and IC analysis method was used to monitor the ambient air in museums and results of passive sampling and automatic sampling were compared in the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an.The stability、applicability and reliability of the passive sampling method were verified. The study laid the foundation for further application of passive sampling in museum and indoor.
