Prebaked anode is the "heart" of aluminium reduction cell’s, and petroleum cokeis the main raw material of prebaked anode, petroleum coke quality affects the qualityof prebaked anodes directly. In recent years, with the continuous expansion ofaluminum electrolytic production, anode consumption is steadily increasing. As themain raw material for the anode, the supply of petroleum coke is a shortage, so somelow quality petroleum coke is a large number of applications in the production ofburn-anode. The quality of petroleum coke is low mainly caused by the high content ofpowder material, sulfur and other trace elements, water. Because of the short supply ofpetroleum coke, anode production enterprise often purchases petroleum coke fromdifferent petroleum coke producers to meet production needs, which caused the qualityof petroleum cokes used in the prebaked anode is instability. A series of questionswere brought out in the process of petroleum coke calcination, such as calcinationtechnics instability, high energy consumption, amount of pollutant emissions. For theabove series of questions brought out due to the scarcity of calcined petroleum coke,How to stabilize petroleum coke calcination process and how to stabilize petroleumcoke calcination process to improve the quality of prebaked anodes were deeplyanalysed in this article from petroleum coke calcination process, equipment andpetroleum coke quality three facets. In conjunction with the national situation ofcurrent energy-saving and emission reduction, It was disscused that how to reduceenergy consumption and control exceeding emissions in the petroleum coke calcinationprocess. Through analysis and studies, we can draw the following conclusions:reasonable arrangements for petroleum coke stacking and storage time can reduce themoisture content of petroleum coke, For the petroleum coke including more finepowder material, we used the granulating technology of petroleum coke powder;energy consumption can be reduced by changing the structure of rotary kiln liner inpetroleum coke calcination process, for the pollutant emissions produced by the highsulphur calcined coke in the calcination process, we used high-sulfur coke andpetroleum coke match to reduce pollutant emissions, in addition, according to theactual situation, the pollutants emission can be reduced through selecting theappropriate desulfurization technology; energy savings can be achieved by rationalutilization of high temperature flue gas produced in calcination process.
