This paper is proposed on the basis of reading a large amount of literature. As thecontinuous development of pipe processing equipments at home and abroad as abackground, the paper elaborates a new-type non-chip cutting mechanism, which isimportant for the future development of the non-chip pipe cutting machine.On the basis of the cutting mechanism of non-chip cutting, this paper introduces thenon-chip pipe cutting machine’s manufacturing process and processing characteristics,discusses several influence factors on pipe processing efficiency. At the same time,drawing stress diagram of the cutter and pipe, the cutter’s cutting force and cutting power isdeduced theoretically.In view of different forms of feed mechanism of the non-chip pipe cutting machine,this paper presents three non-chip pipe cutting schemes and studies on the main movementand feeding movement of these schemes. Through the feasibility, applicability andeconomy comparison, finally the trapezoidal thread type non-chip cutting scheme isdecided as the final feeding scheme. The mechanism is simple and strong feasibility instructure, which has important significance to improve production efficiency and reducesthe Production costs.With the help of SolidWorks software and the finite element method, this paperestablishes cutter models of different cutting edge inclination angles firstly and introducesthem into the ANSYS software for stress analysis. According to deformation conditions ofthe cutter, the most reasonable cutter blade is determined. The cutter’s maximum pressureis deduced. Second, according to the force applied to the cutter mounting shaft, theminimum diameter and the cutter mounting bearing basic rating life is calculated. At thesame time, the cutter mounting shaft’s strength and stiffness is checked. According to thecalculation of the highest speed of the motor, the equivalent load moment of inertia and theequivalent load torque, the capacity of the AC servo motor is determined. It satisfies theusing requirements by checking. In the process of pipe cutting research, this paper uses encoder and high speed countercontrolled by PLC. Auxiliary clamping device of the pipe uses hydraulic chuck. The clawsof the hydraulic chuck are arranged at an angle of120degrees, which have good centeringperformance. In the end, establishing the contact analysis model of the cutter and the pipe,it’s sure that this non-chip cutting machine can complete the pipe cutting task well byANSYS analysis.
