Thin-walled stainless steel pipe has been applied more and more widely in the high-tech fields of aeronautic and aerospace engineering,construction,fire-fighting,drainage,aviation,industry and other applications due to its characteristics of high strength,impact resistance,high temperature resistance,good toughness,wear resistance and excellent corrosion resistance performance.With the requirement of the precision of parts becoming higher and higher,the cutting precision of thin-wall stainless steel pipes is more and more high.However,there are still a lot of shortcomings and certain disparity in the processing methods of thin-walled pipe in China,compared with the developed countries.Therefore,it is necessary to design a thin-walled stainless steel pipe cutting machine with simple structure,high precision and high automation.Based on the comprehensive analysis of research status for cutting machine of thin-walled stainless steel pipe at home and abroad,the cutting characteristics and cutting technology of 409 stainless pipe with wall thickness of 1.0mm ~ 1.5mm and diameter of ?100mm ~ ?150mm was studied.The transmission scheme was determined.The servo motor control of the double cutters symmetrical planetary cutting method with poleless speed-adjusting was designed.The cutter rotation cutting system was designed,the cutting device of revolution and the feed mechanism were included.The V-type clamping feeding structure and cooling system were designed.The main structure was simulated and optimized by ANSYS software.The physical prototype was made and the cutting test of stainless steel pipe was carried out.The experimental results showed that the designed planetary pipe cutting machine can meet the cutting requirements.The speed-adjusting of the feed linear motion,the revolution of the cutter head and the automatic rotation of the main cutting tool can be realized simultaneously.And the requirement of poleless speed-adjusting can be achieved.The clamping feeding system was with the characteristics of automatic centering,reliable clamping,accurate location,convenient handling,high efficiency and reliability and so on.The cooling system can ensure the effective cooling of the tool,so as to improve the quality,efficiency and cutting tool's life.The cutting test showed the section of incision is without burr.And it can meet the requirements of dimension precision.The developed cutting machine of thin-walled stainless steel pipe features simple structure and stable operation.The overall design satisfies the expected requirements.
