Coordination compounds have attracted much interest of chemists because of their multiple structures and novel functions. In this thesis, a series of wa-ter-coordinated and triply-bridged diruthenium complexes and several cation-anion species with sulfobenzoate (sb) ligands and N-donor ligands are synthesized and cha-racterized.11novel Ruthenium complexes are obtained. All these complexes are characterized by X-ray single crystal structure analysis and IR.9of them are further characterized by elemental analysis, thermo gravimetric analysis, UV-vis, fluores-cence and PXRD. In addition, these9complexes are investigated as catalysts in MPS (methyl phenyl sulfide) catalytic oxygenation. The electrochemistry of the ca-tion-anion species was also studied. With different structures and properties of these complexes, this thesis discussed aspects as below:1. Sb/2,2’-bipy complexes are synthesized, characterized and studied as catalysts in MPS oxygenation.3diruthenium complexes and1cation-anion species with sb li-gands and2,2’-bypiridine are obtained and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, UV-vis, fluorescence spectra, PXRD and catalytic oxy-genation investigation. Additionally, the electrochemistry of the3-sb/2,2’-bipy ca-tion-anion species is studied. Generally, the diruthenium complexes, which act as he-terogeneous catalysts, display satisfactory efficiency in MPS oxygenation. The3-sb/2,2’-bipy cation-anion complex indicates moderate performance. As some lite-rature reports, with acid, namely2-Hsb, added to the catalytic reaction, an obvious enhance in catalytic efficiency is observed. Among the four complexes, the2-sb/2,2’-bipy diruthenium complex indicates the best performance in catalytic oxy-genation, showing a conversion of100%after4hours with3equiv of H2O2(to MPS) at ambient temperature (23±2℃). With the9complexes as catalysts, all of them have a selectivity of more than95%for sulfoxide.2. Sb/phen complexes are synthesized, characterized and studied as catalysts in MPS oxygenation.2diruthenium complexes and3cation-anion species with sb li-gands and phen are obtained. All of them are characterized by IR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, UV-vis, fluorescence spectra, PXRD and catalytic oxy-genation investigation. The electrochemistry of the cation-anion species is also stu-died.3.2cation-anion species are obtained. One is2.2’-bipy/Ru complex RuCl2(2,2’- py)2](4-Hsb)(10), in which4-Hsb acts as counter ion and two chloride ions coordi-nate with Ru. The other one is phen/Ru complex [Ru(phen)3](3-Hsb)(NO3)·7H2O (11), in which4-Hsb and NO3-act as counter ions.
