With the development of modern technology, the demand for5-axis machining center is increasing. Enhancing the market competition ability of high-grade CNC machine tools has become the primary task of transformation and upgrading of China’s machine tool industry. Therefore, Dalian machine tool group decided to develop a wall of five-axis machining center. The product can realize movement along the three straight axis (X/Y/Z) as well as realizing workpiece rotation and swing along the two rotary axes (A-axis and C-axis). The bed body is composed of lathe bed, left wall and right wall; two trunnions at sides of Biaxial cradle turntable are set on both machine side walls, which can realize machining complex curved surface with multiple coordinates and big stroke. Perfectly solute the problem of small machining space and small stroke during processing impeller, vane, Marine propeller, heavy generator rotor, turbine rotor, large diesel engine crankshaft and other parts. It has the advantage of high speed, high precision, high reliability, and environmental protection.Wall type machining center design is mainly for machine tool structure design, including confirmation layout of the machine tool structure, three-way feed system structure design, tool change system design, Biaxial cradle turntable structure design and the whole machine structure design. Machine tool structure is the main frame of machine tools, machine tool structure design is the basis of product research and development, one of the most important factors of product development success or failure. This paper will study the mechanical structure to VDU1000wall type five-axis machining center.Combined wall type5-axis machining center VDU1000research and development, this paper briefly discusses the overall design scheme of machine tool prepared process. Analyze different layout structure of five axis machining center; and analyze machine tool rigidity, the overall performance, technology maturity, safety and reliability, operation amenity factors comprehensively. Propose the layout scheme for5-axis machining center. Theoretical calculation of drive system has been identified by the machine tool parameters and the general layout scheme, primary corresponding components and check. Analyze3-way feed drive system and main drive system as well as fast straight type tool changing system, biaxial cradle table function structure principle; analyze3-way feed drive system and main drive system, as well as the structure principle of fast straight type tool changing system, Biaxial cradle turntable; At the same time of simulation modeling of main function components and the whole machine by using the Pro/E software, optimize the model with ANSYS software, and use Pro/E software to complete the appearance design of machine tool.In this paper based on the design, prototype production. Dalian machine tool group has passed the performance test and performance evaluation, the performance of the structure satisfy the design requirements.
