Cladding on diamond is a general method to solve the binding problem between the diamond and many materials, Its essence is:plating metal that easily to generate carbide such as Ti, Cr, Ni, etc.on the surface of diamond directly, heating the diamond to improve the combination between diamond and many other materials.Using diamond after coating can make the metalized diamond surface and binding metal achieve metallurgical bonding, so taht the shed amount of diamonds through grinding process will be reduce.Preparation of Cr coating on the diamond by cladding with Vacuum evaporation furnace and dual-cathode plasma sputtering furnace. The phase structure, morphologies and the composition of the coating were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS. respectively. CFS Analyzer, TI Analyzer, TTI Analyzer. Izod testing machine and other means of detection are used to research chrome-plated coatings on the performance of the the diamond particle morphology, performance, and diamond tools. The main contents are as follows:(1)Vacuum evaporation furnace and dual-cathode plasma sputtering furnace are used to plat chromium on the45-60mesh diamond surface, compared the advantages and disadvantages of the two processes.The phase structure, morphologies and the composition of the coating were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS, respectively. The results show that:the surfacethe of diamond particles after vacuum evaporation plating and the high-temperature heat treatment can be generated chromium carbide, and After the dual-cathode plasma sputtering, the surface of the diamond particles can be generated chromium carbide directly. Explored the impact of plating temperature and plating time on coating through analysis of the composition, microstructure, phase.(2) CFS analyzer,TI analyzer are used to compare the properties of diamond before and after coating. The results show7that:the compressive fracture strength、TI、TTI are all greatly improved after Cr coated. At the same time, in the preparation of the diamond blade process, the coating at high temperatures can protect the diamond from erosion by other metal binding agent.(3)The diamond after plating and the metal powder are mixed to sintered at high temperatures,then made them into the saw blade. The cutting current,cutting speed of the sawing experiments, damage morphology of diamond particles in the blade after cutting abrasive and protrusion height are compared. The results show that,caoting Chromium can improve the performance of diamond tools, the coating can reduce the shedding of diamond saw blade in the course of their work, increase the average diamond blade height. Diamond tools cutting performance, life expectancy can also be increase.
