Numerical control technology is the foundation and the core of advanced manufacturing technology. The development of numerical control technique of woodworking machinery, can gradually make CNC woodworking machinery to the high precision, high efficiency, high quality, high integrated direction. Double-sided milling machine for wood furniture processing is an important equipment in woodworking machinery. The key technology of numerical control machining and the CNC system of five-axis cooperating double-sided milling machinery were researched in order to meet the requirements of high speed and high precision machining.The structure and numerical control requirements of traditional profiling and milling machine were analyzed. The overall solution of five-axis cooperating double-sided milling machinery CNC system was designed. Thereinto, the hardware solutions of CNC equipment is determined in accordance with the existing CNC hardware products, and the frame structure of software based on modular design was established on the basis of Visual C++development environment.The overall program of CNC dedicated CAM software was elaborated, and the key technologies of several functional modules, which include the module for reading DXF files and the module for pre-processing graphics and the module for generating G-code, were detailed analysed and discussed. Then the tool compensation technology of CAM software was discussed, thereinto the discrimination method of tool compensation type based on vector analysis was described, and the arc compensation algorithm was detailed analysed in allusion to all types of tool compensation. A method to eliminate the wood grain marks was researched for the wood grain marks appeared on the processing of two-sided milling CNC machine. The machining path was divided into many segmentations of different degrees according to the size of curvature of the machining path, so the knife marks can be effectively eliminated. A method of vector transfer based on the five phased S-curve acceleration and deceleration was researched, and the relationship between the machine contour error and the maximum allowable speed was analysed, then the velocity smooth control method based on NURBS curve interpolation was presented and the simulation was done. Simulation result of a practical example demonstrated that on the premise of satisfying the accuracy and simplifying algorithm, the method can not only ensure the continuous acceleration, but also can realize smooth transfers along a continuous segment trajectory.The five-axis cooperating double-sided milling machinery and its dedicated CAM software were described in detail, and system was proved by instance. The correctness of the system verified, and it can provide a reference and guidance for domestic researchers in aspects of high speed and high precision machining and the further research of dedicated CAM software.
