ZM6magnesium alloys is a kind of high strength and heat-resistant magnesium alloys, withhigh toughness and plastic, moderate strength and hardness.By the temperature of250℃,itrepresented a good casting performance, a higher temperature tensile properties,and a smalltendency of good comprehensive performance. Therefore,they are more widely application inthe aerospace industry.This paper studies on the different powder grain refiner for magnesium alloy by twodifferent process,which affect the ZM-6Mg alloy’s microstructure,mechanical properties andsalt-fog corrosion resistance. Microstructures and properties of the samples were investigatedand discussed by optical microscope, SEM, tensile testing and salt-fog test. The mechanicalproperties and salt-fog corrosion resistance of reinforced materials with different kinds of SiCnano-powders and different adding process were discussed.The result shows that:With adding0.1%Mg-SiC powders by different process,themicrosructure of ZM-6Mg alloy is refiner and tensile strength were improved by7.37%and9.5%. ZM-6Mg alloys added by0.1%nano-SiC powders were treated by T6-Heat-treatment,the dispersion distribute even. Fracture analysis results show that: the macro-feature is ductilefracture.Mix-feature of cleavage step,laniating ridge and malleable dimple can be observedfrom stretching fracture under micro status. The resistance of salt-fog were improved greatlyby adding0.1%SiC nano-powders, the rate of salt-fog corrosion is decreased by42%,whichrepresented a better prosperity of salt-fog corrosion.The technology, materials reinforced by different modified SiC nano-powders by twoprocesses were advanced, and added value is low. All in all,the equipment and process weresimple and easy to operate.
