First, the exact Hertz contact solution between ball and raceway is calculated, and then both the kinematic model and quasi-static model of the static ball bearing and high-speed ball bearing are established. In order to improve the solution convergence and stability of the equations, several methods are proposed based on New-Rahpson method, and a rule in how to restrain the location of the iteration variables is described in detail. Based on the study of load distribution of the high-speed rolling bearing, the bearing contact angle, contact stress, deformation and spin-to-roll ratio are calculated under different structural parameters and external load conditions. The expressions related to the structural parameters of the bearing dynamic stiffness and friction torque are derived from the force model of the bearing; the influencing laws of different parameters are also discussed. And the preload mode and size of the bearing are analyzed. Based on the speed distribution ratio of the double-decker bearing, the stiffness and friction torque are calculated under different ratios when simplified the double-echer bearing into singal-decker bearing. Second, the fall dynamic model when the Magnetic Bearing rotor drop on the back-up bearing is set up, and then is decomposed into three motions—free falling, contact and impact, spin motion. Detailed analyses in trajectory and force, such as the trajectories under different initial conditions, the contact force under different bearing stiffness, the spin motion under different initial conditions, are taken up between the rotor and back-up bearing. Then the different preload mode and size are proposed for Magnetic Bearings of different loading directions. At last, experiments are carried out to measure the stiffness of the double- decker bearing and to invset the drop dynamic responses between the rotor and the different back-up bearings.
