Made of a good using composite material ,the spiral wound gasket is a good sealingcomponent ,which is winded up by the modeling geometrical steel band and non-metalmaterials. Because its good sealing property , it is widely used in petrochemical, powerand other departments of the equipment and pipe sealing. V type spiral wound gasket hasgood performance, the angle type of the steel strip coil has a significant effect on spiralwound gasket . According to the structure ,we divide it into 4 kinds: basic, with the innerring, with the outer ring, with inner and outer ring. In the equipment which uses the spiralwound gasket with the outer ring or with the inner and outer ring,We often find the outerring bending phenomenon , the leaking often happens in these gaskets.This paper makes clear the reason of the bending that spiral wound gasket happens bythe way of using theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, and the reasonableprocessing error size is making out. The bearing model of the spiral wound gasket outerring is established when its V-type groove is not symmetrical ,then analysis its force andcalculate its strength under the bending moment. Proved by the theoretical calculation thatthere is a moment in the spiral wound gasket outer ring when the V-type groove is notsymmetrical ,making the spiral wound gasket rings bend. Consequently ,this benddiminishes the spring back effect to the body of the spiral wound gasket , influences thesealing performance, which is the main factor that leads the spiral wound gasket easy toproduce the leakage.It is by the material allowable stress that the critical moment , thecritical offset value and the maximum deflexion under the critical bending moment arefigured up. Meanwhile, The numerical simulation of outer ring are maked by using thefinite element. According to the theoretical calculation, the simulation result verifies theaccuracy of the theoretical calculation.This paper of the analysis and calculation has madesignificant guide on the production and standard of the spiral wound gasket.
