The Mars landing buffer airbag must be tested and analyzed before put into service. Overloadof airbags’ center of gravity is an important parameter, as a result of the great difference both Earth’sand Mars’ environment, it is difficult to simulate Mars’ environment and carry out the impact test. This paper deals with the problems above and proposes a method to determine the relative parametersin Earth environment to simulate Mars impact. This paper validates the FEM model of buffer airbags by comparing it with test results. Therelations between several parameters and overload of airbags’ center of gravity are derived by FEManalysis and also the key parameters. The result shows that the key parameters are linear to theoverload, on the base of which, the multi-function relationship between the key parameters and theoverload is obtained using the multiple linear regression theory. Finally, the combinations ofparameters in Earth environment are made to meet the overload in detailed Mars environment. Theresult between the multi-function relationship and that of the FEM analysis under the combinations ofparameters proves high efficiency and accuracy. So the multi-function relationship can be used asoverload equivalent tool. This paper provides Engineering support for the impact test of buffer airbagsin Earth.
