In this paper, the flight dynamics modeling objects is a new type side-by-side helicopter being inthe research. The side-by-side helicopter has a new way to manipulate the rotor and a new structure ofrotor hub, which makes it more simple in rotor controlling and rotor hub than conventionalsingle-rotor helicopter with tail rotor.Side-by-side helicopter has two same size, structure, and airfoil rotors, which symmetricallyarranged on the tips of two wings on both sides of the fuselage side. The new way to manipulate therotor hub and the new rotor configurations of the helicopter make it controlled on the way has its owncharacteristics. In this paper, the methods of controlling the new side-by-side helicopter are described,and were carried out a comparative analysis with conventional single-rotor helicopter with tail rotor,tandem helicopter and tiltrotor aircraft.. On that basis, the flight dynamics mathematical model wasestablished and programmed in the matlab environment. The model calculation module inaerodynamic includes right and left rotors, horizontal tail, vertical tail, wing and fuselage. In the paperrotor aerodynamics was analysed with the blade element theory and induced velocity model of rotorwas the dynamic inflow theory based on Pitt-Peters, taking into account the rotor wake effects on thewing. In this paper, the flight dynamics model was used to model XV-15tiltrotor aircraft for the trim,maneuverability and stability calculations, and the results were compared with the reference data toverify the model. This thesis calculated and analyzed the new type side-by-side helicopter, andobtained some interesting results, which played a good supporting role on the study of the newside-by-side helicopter.
