Considering a new configuration of side-by-side helicopter, its superiority and manipulation are clarified. Comparing with conventional helicopter with a tail rotor, the configuration and manipulation of the new side-by-side helicopter cyclic-less pitch rotor with a gimbal hub is easier. However, the coupling effects between rotor and wing are more complex than a general helicopter. The dynamic model of side-by-side helicopter and its dynamic characteristics have always been difficult in helicopter dynamic designing progress. In this thesis, based on Hamilton principle, the dynamic analysis model of semi-span side-by-side helicopter is established by the multi-body dynamics with considerations of complex couplings between elastic rotor and wing as well as the complicated structures. Based on the coupling dynamic model, the dynamic characteristics of the subsystems of blades, rotor and wing are calculated respectively and compared with reference analysis results or test data, verifying the validity of the dynamic model. Further-more, the dynamic characteristics of coupling rotor/wing system are calculated and the effects of structural parameters on the characteristics of coupling system are analyzed. Finally, in the process of research for further study of dynamic characteristics of the system, the aerodynamic model of wing and rotor is established respectively and the solution to dynamic response of the coupling system is presented. According to the nonlinear coupling system's response to hover and the forward flight and the analysis of the effects on coupling characteristics, some meaningful conclusions are obtained, which are of certain significance to further dynamic characteristics research of the new side-by-side helicopter.
