With the development of the Barkhausen noise technology, it has begun to be widely used forthe evaluation and testing of the ferromagnetic material microstructure and residual stress thanks tothe technology fast, easy and mature, and has made some progress. The main content of my topic is,to build a stress testing equipment which is easy, friendly interface and can real-time acquisition,processing and display data based on the research of the characteristics of Barkhausen noise.Therefore, this paper focuses on the detailed description and analysis of hardware and software ofthe various components of the MBN rail stress testing equipment. In the paper, each part ofhardware has been introduced in detail, and the “role” of each part in the MBN rail stress testingequipment has been described, and the designing idea and process of the overall and various partsof the software have been detailedly introduced and analysed.In addition to the main part of the paper, the beginning of the paper has included theintroduction of the ferromagnetic material stress detection methods which have commonly beenused, the research status of the Barkhausen technology, the theoretical basis of the Barkhausenstress detection, and the MBN signal characteristics and its influence factors. In the end of thepaper, a method of calculating the stress which has based on the BP neural network model and twotests of the field rail had been introduced. The method of calculating the stress which has based onthe BP neural network has took the temperature of the ferromagnetic specimens, the frequency andvoltage of the excitation signal, and the mean value, RMS value, ringing counts and peak-wideratio of the processed Barkhausen signal as input factor, and obtained the the corresponding stressvalue as output data. Through comparison and analysis of the experiment results, the twoexperiments of the field rail which are both validating experiment have confirmed that our MBNstress testing equipment can be applied to the field of rail stress testing, and in a relatively slowspeed cases, our MBN stress testing equipment can conduct the mobile testing.
