The frequent starting and braking of various mechanisms affect the performance of the towercrane and tower operators comfort seriously. So the structural safety and dynamic performance of theslewing platform have been attracted much attention. Static and dynamics loading coefficient methodare generally used in the initial design of the slewing platform. In the past, the slewing platform isalways designed based on experience in domestic. Static problems are the main consideration in staticmethod. Dynamic problem is considered by the dynamics loading coefficient method, however, the tower crane is often a complex coupled motion and it is difficult to be solved accurately. Dynamicperformance of slewing platform designed is often pool.In this paper, dynamic optimization design method is proposed to consider the dynamic problemsof the slewing platform, and it is developed to control the dynamic stiffness in design phase. Pro/E,Pro/M, HyperMesh, ANSYS are used to establish the solid model and finite element model of theslewing platform. Based on these softs, the finite element analysis and dynamic optimization havebeen done. Sensitive analysis has been done for all structure parameters to decide the dynamicoptimization design variables. At last, the starting and braking process of rotary motion aresimulated by ADAMS.The result of analysis shows that after the optimization, both dynamic and static characters areimproved effectively, as well as the structure security of slewing platform is enhanced significantly. These work have important reference value on improving comprehensive performance of the slewingplatform.
