Leisure Square Of Xi’an-the Design Expression Of Geographical And Cultural Characteristics

City leisure square can be seen as a microcosm of the development of a city, It notonly reflect the local natural geography but also demonstrate its long-standing regionalculture to the world. But in recent years due to the globalization trend, the city’sgeographical and cultural characteristics have been gradually disappearing or beingweaken, causing culture serious lack. Faced with this crisis, we should re-examine theconstruction of the Town Plaza. We should one hand retain the original features of thePlaza, and on the other hand promote the expression of the geographical and culturalcharacteristics to a higher level.Based on the analysis of basic features and functions of the square, the author’sessay pays attention to the interaction between the square and participants---people,analyzing profoundly the people’s behaviors and psychological characteristics as forthe square. Then the author puts the viewpoint in the square in Xi’an city, andsummarizes the geographical location and the traditional culture in Xi’an. Whilepreparing for the papers, the author analyzed the characteristics of regional culture andresearched on the expression means of the representative squares in Xian city, and onthis basis the author summarized the current square construction situation and thenanalyzed the development of the geographical and cultural characteristics of leisureplaza in the city. In the paper the author raised the principles and methods ofconstruction of urban leisure Square combined geographical and culturalcharacteristics, aiming to give a healthy space for development in the city square. Bystudying different design practices, the author hopes to provide some valuabletheoretical data for the integration of leisure plaza and the regional culture. In the paperthe author showed eagerly expectation to see good works which combined local traditional culture and the needs of the public.
