Research On Space Planning For Municipal Chinese Medicine Hospital Of Shanxi Province Under The Circumstance Of Integration Of Chinese And Western Medicine

Together with the long historical evolvement of Chinese traditional culture,traditional Chinese Medicine develops and embodies the philosophical thoughts ofharmony between man and nature. It demonstrates with dialectical methodology theinteractive relation between nature, human body and medicine. With thousands ofyears of development through perseverance research by generations, and through studyon vast quantity of empirical knowledge, Chinese medicine has matured into anintegral medical theory of illness diagnosing, preventing and curing. For centuries,prestigious doctors of chinese medicine has cured countless patients, created numerousmedical miracle and made outstanding contribution to the human kind.Chinese medicine architecture is a carrier of chinese medicine, its developmenthas direct impact on Chinese medicine development. From its emergence at Chunqiuperiod to its mature at21st century, Chinese medicine space has experienced manymajor changes. At a time, the introduction of western medicine theory into our countryand the wide acceptance of western medicine and general hospital space design, hascaused the lowering of position and competitive strength of Chinese medicine; TheChinese medicine space lost its initial characteristic and gradually turned into samepattern with general hospital. Through reflection upon this, in order to restore thecharacteristic space pattern and enable its better development, it is necessary to dosome investigate and research on the historical development, current condition andfuture development of Chinese medicine hospital, to provide recommendations forChinese medicine hospital design and contribute to Chinese medicine development.Through literature reading and researching, this thesis refined the historical development phases for the Chinese medicine space, from its initial space of ancienttime to contemporary Chinese medicine space. The thesis studied the Chinesemedicine space pattern with correlated Chinese medicine theory of respective historicalperiod. The historical development of two provincial and municipal Chinese medicinehospitals in Shanxi province were fully investigated, to understand its historical spacedevelopment, current functional compostion and space use, and find out existingprobems of current medicine hospital space. Based on this, Chinese medicine hospitaldesign and planning principles, the space design key points and functional spaceenhancement are developed.As an architect, we should deeply reflect upon why the heritage of our traditionalmedicine space has not been well preserved. It is our duty to seriously investigate themedical treatment and curing space of Chinese characteristic, and help promotenational Chinese medicine culture and its development.
