Research On Correlative Technique Problem Of Traditional Plant Landscaping In Contemporary Xi’an Urban Gardening

This paper takes the improvement of the artistic level of plant landscaping intraditional gardens of Xi’an city as the research objective.First, this paper has briefly introduced the types of gardens in ancient, modern,and contemporary China based on functions and service targets of gardens, and thenanalyzed the types of gardens of Xi’an modern gardens in terms of the actualconditions. This paper has also discriminated the definitions of Chinese traditionalgarden, classical garden, ancient garden, and historical garden, and deemed thattraditional gardens exist in modern gardens. There are two modes for Xi’an traditionalgardens to inherit the artistic style of traditional gardens, namely the inheritance of theoverall gardening methods, and the inheritance of gardening elements processing.Meanwhile, the author deems that the traditional garden construction has played a roleof inheriting the city’s heritage, preserving cultural relics and historic sites, andpromoting the tourism development during the construction of modern gardens inXi’an.Second, this paper has, based on the results of previous theoretical researches onthe artistic style and design principle, etc. of plant landscaping in Chinese traditionalgardening, reduced the plant landscaping characteristics of Chinese traditionalgardening into that, plant sceneries focus on natural sceneries, plants are closelyassociated with other gardening elements, and single plant gesture has natural flavorand diversity. Through the review and analysis of the literature, the author has initiallysummarized the plant landscaping design methods, plant scenery forming means, and the principles of selecting plants for landscaping in the process of Chinese ancienttraditional garden building, and further combined these three characteristics with thespecific methods of plant landscaping in Chinese ancient traditional gardening, as wellas presented the positive connection between the plant landscaping characteristics intraditional gardening and the plant landscaping methods.Third, this paper has pointed out that Xi’an modern garden building featuresspecific division of work, obvious property of gardening commodity, largeconstruction scale, and accelerated construction speed. On that basis, this paperproposes the problems of plant landscaping in traditional gardening in the context ofthe aforesaid Xi’an modern gardening.Finally, the author has, based on the problems of plant landscaping in traditionalgardening in the context of the aforesaid Xi’an modern gardening and artisticcharacteristics of plant landscaping in traditional gardening and by referring to theexperience of plant landscaping in Chinese ancient traditional gardening, summarizedkey points of and countermeasures for design, construction, and late-stage maintenance,as well as the matched plantlet nursing model in traditional plant landscaping of Xi’anmodern gardening.The author hopes that the methods as proposed herein may, to some extent, helpimprove the artistic quality of traditional plant landscaping in Xi’an modern gardeningbased on the social conditions and requirements of the new era.
