Heritage· Coexistence·Blend· Development——A Preliminary Study On Contemporary Chinese Tropical Garden

Under the impact of globalization and international wave of modern gardening, cultures from all around the world which rushed into China have injected new vitality to the Chinese landscape design,at the same time also rapid melting and transformation of Chinese regional culture, eroding traditional gardens in china.Contemporary tropical garden design in China lack of its own design language, or do not have a set of its own expression, communication and interpretation of the design theory and method. How contemporary tropical gardens in China realize modernization, and find their own "the root of the nation", how to carry forward the tradition, and integrated into the global civilization, create belong to this era, with the local culture and design features of contemporary Chinese tropical garden works, is an urgent subject.In this context,"making the past serve the presenf" and "making foreign things serve China"have a wealth of new content. Based on documents inspection, the collection and field research,this paper using an open view to re-examine the traditional, through the analysis of contemporary Chinese tropical garden heritage--traditional Lingnan Gardens,analyzes its unique natural geographical environment and humane geographical environment, trying to sketch the trajectory of forming the garden essence in traditional Lingnan Gardens--"inclusive, pragmatic and innovative". Then carries on the thorough analysis of the main types, style features and elements about modern tropical gardens in the world which bring multiple impact to China. Finally, through analyzing the tropical garden in Sheraton Sanya Resort--the successful case which include a mixture of the traditional inheritance and development, as well as the foreign culture absorption and integration, try to explore the blend of "traditional and modern","local and foreign","regional and international", and prospect in three aspects such as the purpose, attitudes and methods,in order to provide some references for creating regional characteristics, ethnic culture with the international trend to match the tropical garden boutique.
