In parabolic trough solar thermal power systems, concentrating solar collector is akey technology of thermal power systems. The collector consists of reflectors, thesupport structure,the tracking system that includes the drive,sensor,controls etc.And thesupport structure is the main load component and bears to force and torquetransfered,which must have sufficient strength and stiffness in order to ensure thereliability and lifespan of the structure.In addition, mass of the structure is as light aspossible for the sake of reducing the overall weight and cost.In view of this,the topologyoptimization that is drawed into the support structure design of collector in this paper,isto design a reasonable support structure.The following findings and conclusions aremade:Firstly,this paper introduces several typical support structures of collectors andanalyses their respective structure feature. One was chosen as the basic model forrecearch,which is to analyse its static and danymic performance.Its result is preparationfor the result assessment of topologhy.Secondly, the use of the optimuzation module of the HypeWorks is based on theminimum of the structure flexibility. According to the constraints based on the bulkafter optizated, this paper established the mathmatical module of topology optimizationof the colloctor bracket that is based on the variable density. After taking advantage oftopology optimization to calculate, it has some crucial conclusions. According to thisand combined with the manufacturing process that is on the basis the processing of themanufacturable principles, it processes the results of topology optimization and designsa new support sructure.Finally, it has the finite element analysis for the new structure afer manufacturabllypocessing. It concludes that the strength and stiffness of the structure are increased andthe modal of the bracket meets the requirements. It is followed that the section size isoptimized and it has the obvious effects in terms of the lightweight. In conclusion, itillustrates the accuracy,reliability and practical significance of the design of thetopology optimization.In this paper, the research findings is not only to provide the practical referencesand guides for the product design、optimization and transformation of the enterprises,but also to resolve the actual problems of the companies.Most importantly, it illustrates how to utilise the topology optimization for the lightweight design of the typical suppotstructures of the collectors which provides the valuable reference and has the goodeconomic value and social benefits.
