Dual Clutch Transmission has become the focus of automotive development andapplication. It is because DCT vehicles feature better fuel economy than AT vehiclesand can share similar structure and components with MT. It is a very important practicalsignificance to promote the healthy development and technological progress of ourcountry’s automotive industry if we develop a DCT with independent intellectualproperty rights, mastering the key technologies and suitable for the national conditionsof our country.In this paper, the study of DCT dry dual clutch is carried out relying on a projectThe National Natural Science Founds “Study on dry dual clutch durability design theoryand control method”. Based on the finite element technology, completed the research oftorque control for dry DCT auto starting and shifting. The main works as follow:①The structure and overall dimension of the dual dry clutch are analyzed, andthe structure of friction disc, pressure plate, intermediate flywheel and diaphragm springare designed, and then, the diaphragm spring elastic characteristics is analyzed.②The method of clutch wear compensation has been proposed by analyzing theinfluence factors of dual clutch torque, and then, realizing the control of clutch actuatorstroke and speed; According to control requirement of dry dual clutch transmissiontorque during starting and shifting, the control strategy of starting with a constantengine speed and the control strategy of shifting with a fixed opening throttle aredesigned; Engine model, driveline model and clutch actuator control model areestablished.③Based on Matlab/Smulink software, the DCT dynamical model of starting andshifting has been established, and then, the model is simulated with different throttleopening. According to the results, the torque of clutch, the degree of jerk, slidingfriction of vehicle and the actuator travel are analyzed.④Based on the heat transfer theory, the modes of heat transfer of the DCT drydual clutch were analyzed. According to the simulation results in several shiftingconditions in Matlab/Smulink, the initial conditions and boundary conditions forthermal analysis of clutch were acquired. The transient temperature fields of the drydual clutch in concerned shifting conditions were simulated by using Ansys software,the rationality of the design for the dry dual clutch structure has been certificated. The three kind of control method for temperature rising have been designed based on thestructure and material properties of dry dual clutch, and which provides the date supportfor improving the structure design.
