Investigation Of Outdoor Residential Environment Of The Elderly In Beijing Hutong Area

The elderly is in large population in our country. In aging society, improvement of living environment for the elderly is of priority. However, a majority of the elderly living in Beijing Hutong is in social vulnerable group.Although living in awkward residential environment, they are unable to change. It calls for the attention of the society. The thesis focuses on the outdoor living environment of the elderly in Hutong area. Based on the residential need of the elderly, in consideration of the historic characteristics and current situation of Hutong, a cohort of investigation is taken to compare the difference in outdoor living environment between blocks and slums in Hutong area. We unwrapped the problem and suggested solutions to improve, to certain extent, the outdoor living environment for the elderly.
