Study On The Outdoor Environment Design Of Residential Building For The The Elderly In Hefei, Based On The Requirements Of The Elderly’s Activities

China has entered into the aging society since 2000, the number of the aging population increased with an ascending trend. Aging population of China has its unique characteristics, and its development also has considerable problems in the primary stage of socialism. Based on the reality of society, the State Council put forward the construction goal in 2013 that "By 2020, fully completed the old-age service system which is based on the home and community, supported by the institutions, and is also perfect function, appropriate scale, covering both urban and rural areas." This goal showed that home care mode will be the main mode in China for a long time in the future.The phenomenon of aging is increasing with the increase of aging population under this housing supporting mode, and the outdoor environment of residential district becomes the main place for elderly people’s outdoor activities. However, the infrastructure and space of the old residential districts cannot meet the special needs of elderly population in the use of space. Meanwhile, old people’s psychological characteristic and needs of behavior activity are often ignored in outdoor environment design of new residential areas. The residential district for elderly gradually cannot satisfy the using demand of elderly under the aging backgroundIt’s inevitable to create the contradiction between the design of outdoor environment and demands of the outdoor activities for the aged, and this contradiction is increasingly intensified, which needs to be solved urgently.This paper is based on the theory of environmental psychology & environmental behavior, barrier free design, spatial behavior and communication behavior, combines with the characters and demands of the old people’s behavior, and uses research & questionnaire for reference, to find the problems of the outdoor environment design, summarize the common problems and actual demand of elderly for the outdoor environment space, and to finally put forward the design of outdoor environment of buildings which the elderly living in based on the requirements of the elderly’s activities.
