Study On Traffic Flow Under The Influence Of The Traffic Accident

This article mainly studies the impact of the traffic accident, a sudden incident,on traffic flow of the road. The first chapter introduces the related researchbackground, the present research situation and the main innovation and thesignificance of the research of this paper. The second chapter introduces the definition,the phenomenon, the characteristics and component elements of the traffic accident,and so on, explains the relationship between traffic incidents and traffic flow, andprovides an overview on general methods of traffic forecasting. The third chaptertakes the highway basic section affected by a traffic accident as an example, analyzesthe time duration in effects of the accident, the vehicles queue length, and variation ontraffic flow of different cross-sections in different time slices under the impact of theaccident in basic freeway segments. Employing the traffic wave theory, it describesvehicles queue length with various widths of the blocked lanes in different time slicesin effects of the accident on this basic segment. Then changes in traffic flow aresimulated. The fourth chapter also takes the highway basic section affected by atraffic accident as an example, adjusts the values of certain variables in the CellTransmission Model to model the patterns of traffic flow in different time parts indifferent positions of the link affected by that accident. The fifth chapter makes asummary to this article’s research, and presents the direction and general ideas offurther work in future.
