As the middle route of south-to-north water transfer project diverts water intoBeijing in2014, problems of joint operation would be proposed with chances offulfilling water supply on multiple water sources conditions. However, studies onjoint operation and allocation of multiple water sources are not enough. Therefore, itis urgent to propose relevant operation rules and water allocation schemes. Jointoperation model aimed at the multiple water sources cycle in Beijing are establishedand based on the operation, multiple water sources allocation in waterworks of thecycle is studied. Achievement could benefit multiple water sources operation aftersouth-to-north water transfers to Beijing. Meanwhile, the allocation result couldtechnically support auxiliary projects construction.Based on characters of the water supply cycle in Beijing, operation model onday scale is established considering regulating reservoir storage as core and localwater sources as compensation. Imputed with south-to-north designing transfercourses series and demanding levels of2010and2014, operation model calculatedoperation series by calibrating parameters focused on shortage and abandon waterresults. Choosing5typical years’ operation courses as next-step inputs, pipehydraulic calculation program (SSMFst) simulates the multiple water sources cycleand outputs the flow in pipes. Multiple water sources allocation could be judged bythe flow results.Operation and allocation results present that:(1) Operation is highly reliablewith twice shortage at most;(2) Operation series reflect a large amount of watercompensation and desertion are necessary which mainly caused by uneven transferof south-to-north water and local limited storage space;(3) Waterworks in the cyclemainly accept one water source at one day from either Miyun reservoir orsouth-to-north water, which is also decided by south-to-north water transfercharacters and every waterworks supplies almost the same percentage by watersources as others, while the more directly waterworks accept Miyun reservoir transfer, the higher percentage of Miyun reservoir water they enjoy;(4) Taking useof underground storage space benefits joint operation and allocation of multiplewater sources in improving supply reliability and lessening water desertion, forBeijing possesses large underground space and groundwater source supplies waterfaster than Miyun reservoir as compensation.
