Beijing is a typical resource-based water shortage city in China. For a long time, the use of emergency water sources to sustain urban water demand has led to serious problems such as serious over-exploitation of groundwater and ecological deterioration of urban rivers and lakes. In recent years, with the national Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development strategy, the Beijing economy and population layout has undergone great adjustment. In order to make full use of valuable water resources and protect the social and economic development of Beijing, this paper studies the urban water supply in Beijing under the new situation, and provide theoretical support for the future development and utilization of water resources in Beijing. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Based on the complex urban water systems and structures of Beijing, and the features of local surface water and highly integrating with the external water source, water supply system presenting a ring structure, changing the direction of conveyance, responsible for internal regulation and storage system, high water protection requirements and the water supply system developed responsible scheduling rules, etc.,this paper develops a rule-based model of urban multi-water supply in Beijing. This model implements the configuration of multi-water sources in Beijing under the condition of water supply, water demand and water distribution, can simulate each unit-by period for water process, and statistical entire water supply system of water demand, water supply, water and other indicators.(2)This paper analyzes the water supply capacity of the five main sources of water supply, local groundwater source, external water source, unconventional water source and emergency water source in Beijing. The estimated annual water supply at the planning level is 24.52-49.33 billion m3/a from local surface water, local groundwater and external water sources.Based on the urban population development scale, the nature and scale of land use and the standard of water consumption, this paper predicts that the total water demand of the city is 35.22-41.62 billion m3/a,of which the living water demand is 1.752 billion m3/a,the industrial water demand is 712 million m3/a,and the ecological water demand is 10.58-16.98 billion m3/a.(3)From the two aspects of water supply and water demand in Beijing, this paper sets up 12 scenarios. The results show that the basic pattern of urban water supply in Beijing is the main source of water for the surface water, including the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, and the water supply of reclaimed water will be further increased. The groundwater will be mainly used to regulate the change of available water supply,so as to realize the higher society economic water supply level, and only in the low water situation, the risk of ecological water shortage. It is proposed to promote water saving and unconventional water use;to use the new water source to expand the South-to-North Water Diversion Project;to make full use of underground reservoirs,to increase emergency water sources and to enhance the flexibility of water supply system;to improve the water supply system according to the new urban layout.
