Time synchronization device of power system has significance for real-time analysis of networkstatus and the safe operation of the grid. In order to meet the requirements of time synchronization ina variety of equipments and systems, to ensure the consistency of real-time data collecting, to improvethe accuracy of phasor and power angle dynamic monitoring, fault location of transmission lines andso on, to enhance the ability of stable control and system fault analysis, time synchronization networkconstituted by time synchronization devices provides a unified time base at all levels of China’spower grid operator, power plant (substation).The thesis describes the design and implement of a high-precision time synchronization device. Atfirst, the thesis describes the overview of time synchronization network and time synchronizationsystem defined by the electric power industry standard implementation in December2009, discussesthe functional requirements and performance criterias, proposes an algorithm of producing ahigh-precision PPS, plans and designs the overall structure of the device. By function the device isdivided into receiver module, clock module, configuration and display module, network time servermodule and interface module, such as TTL, RS232, and optical fiber. Then, the thesis details thehardware, software design of the modules. Finally, the thesis debugs the device, and lists all actualperformance criterias.Through the needs analysis, solution develop, chip selection, system schematic design, PCB design,hardware and software debugging stage, finally, this thesis has developed a high-precision timesynchronization device, which has following features: Four external time source interface, includingGPS, COMPASS wireless time source signal, and IRIG-B (DC) wired time source signal; Timingwith pulse, UART, IRIG-B, and network; The accuracy of PPS is better than100ns, and the timekeeping accuracy is better than DL/T1100.1-2009standard’s. The device has been designed, tested,and the performance meets the state requirements for the time synchronization device.
