Time is one of the basic attributes of material existence and movement.Precise time,as the basic physical parameters of scientific research,scientific experiments,and engineering technology,plays a crucial role in the scientific research and other fields of the defense industry.In this context,this paper designs and implements a high-precision multi-channel time interval counter with pulse width measurement function.Then perform performance evaluation tests on the counter system.The main research contents and achievements of the thesis include:In-depth understanding and analysis of the principle and related concepts of time interval measurement.Comparing classical methods of time interval measurement and summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of each method.Among them,a thorough understanding of the intervening method was emphasized,and based on this the technology of time interval measurement used by the system was be analyzed,to lay the foundation for follow-up design and research work.Overall design of the system.First,select the components needed for the hardware platform;understand fully of the operating conditions and electrical parameters of each device,especially related operating parameters of microprocessor(FPGA)and TDC-GPX2 chips,to complete system hardware design and debugging.Then refine system functions,to design the modules of microprocessor,such as configuration logic,data flow processing logic,and serial communication logic,then to connect these modules together according to the functions of the system.Through simulation and debugging,verify each function module.Finally,combine the functions of the hardware platform to design corresponding software requirements of the host computer.Using VC++ Platform to Design PC Software.Finally,the software and hardware platforms be jointly tested and then complete the system design.After commissioning of various parts,build a test platform to test time intervalmeasurement performance,pulse width measurement performance,and multi-channel simultaneous measurement performance of the system's,and perform error analysis on the system.The standard deviation is used as evaluation indicators in the test.In addition,the precision of the time interval measurement(standard deviation)is better than 60 ps.Using comparison method to get system error less than 500ps;the range can reach 1.6s;pulse width measurement performance is comparable to SR620.Multi-channel synchronous measurement consistency is good,can meet most applications.
