Blade is one of the most critical components in the aero-engine, its surface quality can directlydetermines the engine’s performance and stability. The design efficiency of apparatus that used toevaluate the blade profile is one of the key steps that affect the blade manufacturing. In this paper, arapid design technology of profile measuring apparatus for blade based on the template wasdeveloped according to the summary and analysis of the existing design process of apparatus andmeasuring technology on blade profile. The model was able to automatic convert into measuringapparatus for various blades from the template which was driven to update. The rapid design used theTeamcenter software to manage the data. A rapid design system for profile measuring apparatus ofaero-engine blade was developed which had been used in tool designing department of certainaero-engine manufacturer. It is proved that the system could increase the efficiency and shortensdesign cycle significantly, the designing costs and duplication of designers was deduced as well.The main achievements are as follows:(1) The overall template-based design for the profile measuring apparatus of blade that havesimilar structure was proposed according to the summary of previous design process. The measuringtechnology for the blade was researched and the template of profile measuring apparatus of blade wasdesigned.(2) The template was driven and converted to measuring apparatus for various blades according tothe research on the parameter-driven technology and parameter-associated design technology. The3Dmodels and2D drawings were updated at the same time.(3) Oracle was used as the back-end database system. The data of rapid design for the profilemeasuring apparatus of blade was managed by Teamcenter. A template library was constructed andthe assembly storage that named as clone product was developed.(4) The rapid designing system for the profile measuring apparatus of aero-engine blade wasdeveloped on the UG platform with the tools of Visual C++and UG/Open, and it had been used in anaviation manufacturing enterprise.
