Self-lubrication spherical plain bearings, which are bonded the layer of selflubricating liners instead of the steel and steel directly friction by the liners and theinner rings of steel between inner ring and outer ring, can achieve self-lubricatingrequirements in aerospace, railway mechanics, etc. fields. The main failure is wearbecause the wear can make the gap of inner and outer ring of spherical plain bearingincrease, but the failure may be caused by bad bonding and fall off, which can result inthe increase of friction coefficient and losing self lubricating function. However, whenthe spherical plain bearing bears the heavy load, the ring will generate largedeformation, and the failure of the ring appears. Therefore, the research on bondingquality, tribological properties and its carrying properties of spherical plain bearing isvery important in order to improve its the operation performance and prolong itsservice life. The self-lubrication spherical plain bearings with PTFE/aramid fiber linerswere investigated. The peel strength values and tribological properties of bearings withthe different treated methods and different binding material were tested. The effects ofdifferent treated methods, different adhesive and swinging conditions on the bondingquality, tribological properties of spherical plain bearing were investigated. Theequivalent stress distribution and loading deformation distribution rule of sphericalplain bearing were analyzed by finite element method software. The main researchworks are as follows. The peeling strengths of the spherical plain bearings with the different treatedmethods and different binding element were tested, then the influencing factors of thepeeling strengths were analyzed. The tribological properties of the bearings withdifferent frequency and different ways of swing were tested. The effects of thepretreated methods, binders and swing conditions on the friction coefficient, wear lossand friction temperature of the self-lubrication spherical plain bearings were discussed. The methods of perfect pretreated and the forms of binders were established, and the spherical pain bearings of the home and abroad were evaluated by comparison. With the Scanning Electron Microscope and the Energy Disperse Spectroscopy, themicro morphologies of the worn self-lubricating liner in different pretreated anddifferent binder were analyzed. The effects of the pretreated methods, binders andswing conditions on the wear mechanism of self-lubricating liner were discussed. Theresults have a certain reference value to improve bonding process and the tribologicalproperties of self-lubricating spherical plain bearings. The spherical plain bearing with a liner was analyzed by ANSYS, and the equalstress distribution, maximal equal stress and maximal displacement were acquired.Test results prove numerical simulation load bearing with exactness and accuracy.Numerical analysis and test results provide reliable experiment for tribologicalproperty of frictional pairs and the wear mechanism change of self-lubricatingspherical plain bearings.
