The cold bending thin-walled steel system, which appeared in1830s and orginatedfrom the North America, is widely used overseas because of its light weight, seismicperformance, short period of construction and green environmental protection.By the1980s, some domestic enterprises began to bring in this whole set of cold bendingthin-walled steel housing system from North America, Japan, Austrilia, and NewZealand.What’s more, a part of domestic universities made tests and theoretical researchon the light steel housing system with the cooperation of those domestic enterprises.And they found that the shear strength and lateral rigidity of the wall covered withenvelope are much stronger than those of the wall without envelope. However, in theprocess of practical construction and promotion, it is found that the complex programand high cost of the traditional light steel system in which the wall is covered withenvelope hinder the pace of its spread. Some enterprises, thus, look for another waywhich is easier in program and cheaper in cost of building. The combined system ofNest light steel and Concrete core column, which is designed by the ChongqingUniversity and Chongqing Zhong Rui Xin An industrial Co. LTD, is an example.Because the combined system of nest light steel and concrete core column is a kind ofnew residential building system, the domestic research is still a new field. A series ofresearch on this system is needed making. The wall is the main component of thecombined system of Nest light steel and Concrete core column, so it is necessary tomake research on the wall to grasp its vertical bearing capacity, level shear bearingcapacity, lateral stiffness and deformation resistance level characteristics, failure modeand so on. According to those objectives above, this paper makes the followingresearches from several aspects.①Do level low cyclic loading test on four pieces of light steel and concrete corecolumn under vertical load. Through the test, it is found that the level bearing capacityand the lateral stiffness of the wall of QGHQ-3(“four square core columns” and “wallbottom with250mm ring beam”) are the highest, and the energy dissipation is the best.It can satisfy the need of horizontal bearing capacity of the three-store building inChongqing area with its wind load, high rate of earthquake. So it is suggested using thesquare core column system as much as possible. ②Make comparison among the result of simple columnar finite element linear,simple columnar test and wall test on the basis of test. It can be concluded that thetransverse braces and beams of the light steel and concrete core column play animportant role in supporting the wall in the bearing course; Establish finite elementlinear model of wall under all kinds of condition and discuss the degree of influence onthe wall capacity which is made by the components of wall.③Establish a finite element nonlinear model which is fit with the test through thedefinition of plastic hinge of column base and the hypothesis of plastic hinge of the endof transverse braces and beams.
